A Protected Payment is released only on one of these grounds:

  • the buyer approves the work or milestone;
  • the review window in the order ends without an issue being raised (auto-acceptance), after the buyer has been told before release;
  • a contract rule in the order is met;
  • the parties agree a settlement;
  • a decision is made under the dispute process.

The review window

The length of the review window and the notices you will receive are shown in your order before you pay. You are notified before a payment is released. If you raise an issue before the window ends, release is paused while it is considered.

Quick answers

Can I stop a release?

Yes. Raise an issue on the order before the review window ends. Release is paused while the issue is open.
