UK data protection law gives you rights over your personal data. This article explains what they are and how to use them. Our Privacy Policy is the governing document and gives the full detail.
Your rights
Subject to some conditions and exemptions, you have the right to:
- be informed about how your data is used
- access a copy of your personal data
- rectification, so inaccurate data is corrected
- erasure, so your data is deleted where there is no reason to keep it
- restrict processing while a concern is looked into
- data portability, to receive data you gave us in a machine-readable format
- object to processing based on legitimate interests, and to direct marketing at any time
- withdraw consent where we rely on consent
We do not make decisions about you with legal or similarly significant effects solely by automated means.
Who to ask: us or your property team
It depends on who holds your data and why.
- If the request is about your Propvora account, billing, partner account or marketing, contact us.
- If you are a tenant, applicant, guarantor, leaseholder, landlord, owner or contractor and your details are held by a letting agent or property manager in their workspace or portal, that business is responsible for your data. Contact them first.
If you contact us about data a property team holds, we will pass your request to them where we can identify them and help them respond.
How to make a request
- Email info@blackwellen.com and say which right you want to use.
- Tell us the email address linked to your account, if you have one.
- We may ask for reasonable information to confirm your identity before we act.
We usually respond within one month. Requests are normally free. If a request is complex, the Privacy Policy explains when the time can be extended and how we will tell you.
What we may need to keep
Some data must be kept even after a deletion request, for example invoices we are required to keep by law. If we cannot do everything you ask, we will explain why.
Quick answers
I'm a tenant. Can Propvora delete my details?
Your letting agent or landlord controls the data in their workspace, so contact them first. If you contact us, we will pass your request on and help them respond.
How long will a request take?
We usually respond within one month. The Privacy Policy explains when this can be extended for complex requests.
